Now in our 29th year of operation, PublicLegal, a product of the Internet Legal Research Group, is a socially motivated website that provides information about the law while respecting your rights and privacy. A categorized index of select websites, as well as thousands of legal forms and documents, PublicLegal aims to provide original content while serving as a resource of the information available on the Internet concerning law and the legal profession. Designed for everyone—laypersons, legal scholars, and practitioners alike—it is curated to include only the most helpful legal resources and information.

Who we are
Founded as a research project at the University of Texas at Austin School of Law in 1995, we were one of the first online sources for free legal documents. More than two decades later, we have steadfastly remained true to our mission. PublicLegal has retained the ability for our website visitors to access, at no cost, the full text of our documents. This ability to preview and scrutinize our documents in their entirety has brought and continues to bring transparency and accountability to the industry. To fund our operations, we provide our visitors with the ability to purchase our documents, with the value-added incentives of lifetime updates, support, and our accuracy guaranty.

We are the only legal forms provider that offers a reward program, open to the public, no purchase necessary, compensating anyone who can demonstrate a legal defect or compliance issue with one of our forms.

PublicLegal has grown to become a trusted publisher of legal information, forms, and documents. Our clients include legal professionals at 45 of the 50 largest law firms in the United States—and 85 of the top 100. PublicLegal has some of the most widely used legal documents in the world. Since our inception, our legal forms and documents have been downloaded from our site tens of millions of times.
